The Experience

The Grand Masters Volcanic Tournament is an international hat tournament designed specifically for veteran Ultimate players (Men 40+ / Women 36+ by the end of the tournament year). Players sign up individually, and balanced teams are drawn to ensure competitive, spirit-filled play.

The tournament takes place at Tilajari Hotel Resort in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. This full-service rainforest resort has athletic fields on the property, making it easy to wake up, grab breakfast, and walk straight to the fields in the morning. It also makes it convenient to take a dip in the pool or relax sore muscles in the jacuzzi when teams have a bye. The resort grounds border the San Carlos River and are packed with tropical wildlife. Several local Costa Rican players are trained naturalists who are always happy to answer questions about the birds, iguanas, sloths, or other wildlife around the venue.
